At in the Spotlight we offer a range of classes both during the week and on the weekend. Our students range from 3 year olds who love Tiny Tots to adults who do 10 or more classes a week. Click on the links below to read more about each or check our timetable to see what classes suit you.

CLASSES

ACROBATICS

Acrobatics teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, and above all, discipline and concentration.

Basic tumbling skills can be an added bonus for any dancer or athlete. With careful, quality instruction, a dancer will gain more flexibility and upper body strength, giving him or her a substantial advantage in today’s demanding choreography.

BALLET

Provides grounding in ballet positions and classical ballet movement greatly improving overall dance technique. The syllabus taught is RAD (Royal Academy of Dancing).

Ballet is extremely important for dance technique and is encouraged for those wishing to pursue a career in the performing arts industry.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop is street style dance that is a stylised combination of street funk, and hip hop.

Free, funky and soulful expression of movement.

JAZZ

Modern funky style, which is used most commonly in music video, clips, and pop concerts.

At In The Spotlight we specialise in Jazz and offer a variety of classes for different ages.

LYRICAL

Lyrical is slow and expressive movements with an emphasis on technique.

Contemporary dance involves abstract movements, in the style of the Sydney Dance Company.

SHOW GROUP

In The Spotlight Showgroup consists of selected students from the studio who will participate throughout the year in various performances.

Students are monitored in class and are invited to join by Miss Victoria. Showgroup involves extra rehearsals and dedication from all students.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical – humor, pathos, love, anger – are communicated through words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.

TAP

Tap provides the student with the understanding of various rhythms of the feet used with popular music.

We teach both traditional steps as well as more modern techniques.

Tiny Tots Combo Class
3 – 5 year olds not in Primary School.

A combination of Jazz, Tap and Ballet in an hour fun filled class.
